Parishes in Archdeaconries
396 HIV/AIDS counsellors (of this number,
18 were clergy) have been trained in the Archdeaconries
in the Diocese:
These volunteer counsellors provide much needed
support to individuals, family members, parish
and community projects and clinics. Monthly meetings
in the above-mentioned Archdeaconries following
the initial training provide ongoing training
and support for the counsellors. Attendance at
these meetings has been excellent. Funder: DFID.
Projects in the Urban Area –
Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Area
A five-day counselling workshop was conducted
from 27 – 31 March 2006 at St Boniface Anglican
church in Germiston for caregivers of home-based
care projects:
47 caregivers attended the training which was
conducted by Dr Sophie Msiza. Funder: DFID
A five-day counselling workshop was conducted
from 24 – 28 July 2006 at St Boniface Anglican
church in Germiston for the caregivers of the
above-mentioned home-based care projects bringing
the total of caregivers trained to 113.
