People of the Way
The Diocese of Johannesburg has designed a Lent course for the Southern African context called “People of the Way”. The name takes its inspiration from the early Christian movement, where discipleship was understood as “following Jesus on the way”. This Lent course explores through stories and theological teaching what it means in contemporary time to be a disciple on the way.
The course consists of a DVD and study material.
It is designed for the whole parish and includes:
- Sermon and liturgical material
- Sunday school material
- Confirmation material
- Youth material
- Bible study material
It begins the Sunday before Lent and runs through to Easter Sunday
The DVD has seven episodes. Each episode consists of teaching around
the theme of discipleship and a story which shows an example of how the teaching on discipleship is lived out in practice. This might be in the life of an individual, an organisation, a parish or a programme. There are also reflections on the teaching from members of the Anglican Church.
