Archdeoconry HIV/Aids Education and Counselling

One of the key initiatives that have been part of our Diocesan life is the Diocesan Coordinating AIDS Committee (DACC) which now falls under the oversight of HABSR. Through its leadership and the provision of funding, made possible through the generosity of benefactors, it has been possible for many years now to employ full-time staff, including Deacons Lynne Coull, Marlene Rodda and Mrs Florence Ngobese in support of the comprehensive HIUV/AIDS Training and Support Programme that is run through the Diocese. Recently, through external funding, Ms Sizakele Shongwe has been appointed to specifically assist in working with Orphans and Vulnerable Children. In each of the Archdeaconries, which are clustered into regions, HIV/AIDS Counselling Training has been conducted for both clergy and laity. Those attending this training have been issued with certificates, in recognition of this achievement. Ongoing meetings are also held in the Archdeaconry Regions to encourage and support those now involved in counselling people affected and infected by HIV/AIDS.
